I have had the Fake FRI trojan hit me on 4 different occasions. The first time I paid $79.00 for a telephone support co. That I though at the time was Microsoft, but it worked. They took over my laptop and finally downloaded a free version of Super anti spy ware. Here's the procedure: re boot in safe mode ( while booting up, keep tapping F8, open in safe mode.)
Using enter key, highlight "open in safe mode with networking".
When screen opens, click on super anti spy ware shortcut and select "full scan".
It will after running note the Trojan ( 2 of them) and instruct you how to remove.
I had the same Trojan a few weeks later and did it on my own.
It is wortth buying the spyware... I had to use it for same reason yet again, it told me was expired, I bought the license and all was good.
Then, 3 days later... same trojan... this time spyware failed... so I used Matware bytes anti malware... free for a period... and it worked fine. Happened again the next day and I ran malware on quick search, they got it and all was good.
I'm thinking this may be the easiest way to get it done.
Love Norton 360, do wonder why this rascal keeps getting through the defenses all the time.
