When at the library, I either can't connect to their wifi or the connection cuts out every few minutes. No one else has the same problem. When I do a diagnostic test, I usually get the following results: (1) Wireless network connection doesn't have a valid IP configuration, (2) Problem with wireless adapter or access point and (3) Default Gateway is not available.
I first checked my Toshiba C655 satellite laptop by reinstalling the wifi driver. Since I don't have a problem at home or most other locations, it's not the driver.
I recently uninstalled my Norton 360 and then downloaded a competitor's anti virus/malware software. The problem was instantly resolved. I was able to connect and stay connected. I wanted to try the Norton 360 one more time, so I again downloaded it. The problem started immediately. As a side note, I haven't configured the backup function on Norton, so that shouldn't be the problem.
Do you have any suggestions? I like the Norton product, but when I use my laptop at certain hotspots, it's unreliable. I'm due for a renewal soon, so I want to see if this can be resolved before then.
