Why does Norton 360 recently say that it is incompatible with Dell Data Protection Access, a basic hard drive encryption utility that Dell has been putting on its workstations and laptops for over a year? Norton 360 asks me to uninstall Dell Data Protection Access. I ignore the request and Norton appears to work just fine, but it pops up alerts that the incompatibility remains on my system. I have Dell Data Protection Access on an older Windows 7 Ultimate (64-bit) machine, and Norton 360 doesn't seem to mind, but Norton keeps telling me about the incompatibility on the Dell workstation (Windows 7 Ultimate, but only 32-bit) set up this month.
I called Norton technical support, and they are as stumped as I. They think they can create a firewall policy to make the warning go away, but isn't that just sweeping the problem under the rug?
If you google the Dell product, do not confuse Dell Data Protection Access with the more comprehensive, enterprise-level Dell Data Protection Enterprise.
