NOT A HAPPY BUNNY !
I decided to upgrade to the latest N360 21.1.0.18. I took the easiest route to "UPGRADE/INSTALL". Norton Account, followed the prompts, and downloaded/saved the "INSTALLER".
Ran the "INSTALLER", brought the N360 up to spec with "LIVEUPDATE". The product at first appeared OK, then 'your PC is not protected by Sonar advanced protection', flagged-up. I rebooted a couple of times, alert persists. No panic, the 'Firewall' is still up.
I had a read at the Norton Community on the issue, and decided that I would try the "Remove/Reinstall Tool". The "RRT" stalled; so, I gave up on that idea.
Next up Windows ADD/REMOVE, the "Norton Removal Tool", and a new "INSTALLER".
1. Downloaded all the required minutiae.
2. Disconnected the PC from online.
3. "UNINSTALLED" N360.
4. Deleted all the downloads and associated/unpacked files from the previous faltering install.
5. Ran the "NRT" 5 times, rebooting throughout.
6. Reran a new "INSTALLER".
7. N360 21.0.1.18 installed, again.
8. Checked the products out, facilities, drop-downs, tabs: ran a few things,OK
9. Ran GET SUPPORT, checks out,OK.
10. N360 21.1.0.18 appears to be functioning correctly.
I have spent all day massaging this upgrade. So much so, that I have cancelled my Auto-Renewal. There are 100+ days left on my subscription, and if the product fails in that period, I will be looking elsewhere for my security package.
I'm monitoring the `system tray icon' while I'm writing this epistle.
