Sometimes after Windows updates are installed on my computer the Norton 360 (N360) icon does not appear in the task bar the next time I start my computer like it usually does indicating that Norton is active. The last time this occured I uninstalled SuperAntiSpyware and uninstalled N360 using the Nortorn Removal Tool. I then reinstalled N360 and got the N360 icon once installation was complete. After a reboot, the N360 icon would not appear on the task bar. After uninstalling and reinstalling N360 5 times with the same results, I looked in Control Panel/Security Center/Firewall andAntivirus and found that Norton 360 was actually running. I then decided to reinstall SuperAntiSpyware and after a SuperAntiSpyware scan, the N360 icon appeared after a reboot. The N360 icon appeared after several subsequent reboots indicating that the problem was apparently resolved.
Fast forward several days and I start my computer and again get no N360 icon. Control Panel/Security Center/Firewall and Antivirus indicated that N360 was running. After several reboots and still not N360 icon, I ran a SuperAntiSpyware scan and, after a reboot, got the N360 icon back in the task bar.
What could be the problem?
I'm running Windows XP Home Edition.
Thanks for the help.
