Norton 360 gives me internet problems (AVG problems too) 2 Questions?

Windows 7 - 64 Bit

So Norton is giving me NUMEROUS amounts of problems that I had to uninstall it from my computer.

I came home one day to find that the game I usually play (League of Legends) had  a patch.  I patched the game and proceeded to log in.  Unfortunately once I attempted to login I got this error:

Connection Failure: Unable to connect to the PVP.net server

One of the suggestions to fix it was:

Check your Firewall Settings:

Try each of the possible solutions listed below. If you are having trouble with these steps, our support staff is more than happy to help you to the best of our abilities, but please note that your firewall's manufacturer is likely to be more knowledgeable about the configuration of their software.

Potential Firewall Solutions:

  • Disable Windows Firewall and see if this clears up the issue.
  • Disable any third party firewalls and anti-virus software. (Examples: Norton, McAffee, AVG)
  • Make sure that Port 2099 is open
  • Make sure that LolClient.exe has been added to your firewall exceptions list. "

Seeing that I figured Norton/AVG was the problem. (I still have AVG it won't uninstall correctly)

I then just decided to restart my computer since I had updates waiting so I shut down my computer and turned it back on after the system downloaded updates and my internet stopped working.  I am pretty sure it was from Norton's firewall and I read someone else's thread and my Norton would NOT open.  I would double click something like "Disable Smart Firewall" and I would see on my taskbar a little program open but instantly close so I'm assuming it's not working.. So I uninstalled Norton and now my game works.. So I have no idea what actually happened.

Next problem is I know AVG and Norton aren't compatible but I keep going to my control panel and clicking uninstall and it asks me to restart -- I restart but it's still on my add/remove hardware list.  I then proceeded to googling how to remove it and I think I downloaded avgremover or something that like but it ended up deleting all my files in my "Program Files (x86)" folder so I had to perform a system restore.  Maybe I'm just computer illiterate or computer dumb but it's really stressful that I can't fix this on my own.

Any suggestions?

Note: I am very sure I don't have a virus.  My scans before today/last night have all been clean and always clean from MalwareMalbytes as well as Norton.
