I recently had a nightmare with searchnu.com/406 after downloading iLivid (and, yes, I was LIVID!)
Basically, searchnu.com/406 sabotaged Internet Explorer and made itself my default search engine. I made extensive efforts to remove it; so many that I cannot recall which one finally got rid of it.
However, that is not the end. One of the "recommended solutions" to eliminate searchnu was to download and run SpyHunter. This I dutifully did, except that after it detected a number of malwares present on my computer, payment was required to remove them! I didn't feel inclined to do this as I have been using Norton - and have been entirely satisfied with it - for a number of years.
And yet ... Norton 360 hadn't detected any of the supposed malwares on my computer. I downloaded and ran Norton Power Eraser. Same story. Nothing found. (By the way, I have also tried Microsoft Safety Scanner.)
The malwares that SpyHunter claims to have found are listed below. My question is, why didn't Norton find them and what can I do to detect and remove them? Here goes:
