Videos not playing with Norton 360

I KNOW Norton 360 is causing this because I installed it today. Videos stopped working (youtube, vevo, everywhere). I uninstalled it. They are working now. What gives? I tried temporarily disabling the firewall when I had it and it didn't work. Uninstalling it resolved the problem. I like Norton, but simply cannot use if it this happens.

Norton Antispam confusion

I am confused about Norton Antispam.

I have Norton 360 installed on my laptop which runs on Windows 8.1 and Office 2013, and have Outlook as my email client. I receive messages in my inbox that has [Norton AntiSpam] annotated to the subject line. My question is this, if Norton is recognising this as spam, why is it still arriving in my inbox - shouidn't it be going somewhere else? For your info I have Outlook turned on under Client Intergration in my Antispam settings and have already tried switching it off, rebooting and switching it back  on again.

Any advise whould be appreciated.

360 and Antivirus

I recently fell victim of what I would call viciious malware attack.  Having already having Norton 360 installed, I decided to install Norton Antivirus in addition thinking it was the right thing to do.  However it seems, I may be wrong as during the installation process all indications were that it  had removed 360 in the process.

Does anyone have any suggestions/solutions or have I did the wrong thing in the first place? I was rather panicked by the whole episode.

Many thanks for anybodys/all your help

Kind regards

Web Protection definitions not coming through

This is probably nothing serious, and most likely a server issue, but I wanted to double check.

I've not had any web protection definitions for about 9 hours now. This is weird considering they're normally updated every 2 or 3 hours.

Both computers in my house are having this problem.

Norton 360 V 21.2.0.38

Unable to install the latest definitions from download

I have been unable to update my definitions this past week. I request the update, it says it's downloading 205Megs of data but it fails on the install. I have tried rebooting and re-downloading. nada.

As far as I can see, the rest of the product is working (doing a basic scan, all green lights when i view details in Security, tune-up works).

So what's the story and how do I fix it?

How do I update the product key for Norton 360?

I bought Norton 360 2014 online and have a new product key. I have not downloaded the software. I would like to update the product key  without downloading the software. Is there a way to do so?

I am editing my message. I was able to update the product key by going to My Devices instead of My Account.

I am a little disappointed - my update gave me 365 days of subscription without adding the 7 days that remained on my earlier subscription for this product.

On the other hand, I am pleased that I was able to complete the purchase and the updating online saving a visit to a bricks and mortar store.

When I try to uninstall a program called"Convert Files For Free" a Norton window pops up that says "au.exe is not safe and has been removed"...and the program is never uninstalled.  What needs to be done to get this annoying program off my computer?

Why can't I post or comment on an issue? I haven't used this in a while.

I used to be able to post and comment on topics but I can't seem to do that anymore.  I don't use the site much so maybe I forgot but I don't see anything to click on to allow me to post or comment.

Using NPE and NBRT the boot.cidox came back. How do you remove it permanently?

Norton Power Eraser (NPE) could not remove the boot.cidox infection.  The Norton Bootable Recovery Tool (NBRT) did remove it but the guy that I helped later emailed me to say it is detected again by Norton 360.  I haven't actually seen the mesage he is getting but it sounds, by his description, to be the same message I saw on his computer when Norton 360 initially detected it after I installed 360.  Does anyone know how to truly eradicate this virus?  Could it be that he is going to a particular web site that gets his computer infected?

I am plagued with popup adds. Browser settings for popups don"t work. Any suggestions?

Norton 360 v. 21.2.0.38: 3038,104's

I'm running the latest version (21.2.0.38) of Norton 360 on Windows 7 64-bit.  I get a new error 3038.104 every couple of days.  The date and time zone are OK, and a check with NIST time shows the clock drifting perhaps 15 seconds.  I've tried the permissions solution with two reboots, re-installing, and NRnR.exe twice.  A reboot fixes the problem for a day or two but one of my main uses of this computer is to make extended runs, sometimes for weeks or months, and I am not in a position to reboot this computer every couple of days.  I"ve been keeping a log of 3038,104 errors since March 31:

Automatic Backup Failed, No Reason Given

I have setup 7 backup sets. When I use the "Run backup now" option, they work fine. But when the backup starts when the machine is idle, I get a message in the security history, saying that the backup as failed, with no error message.

The backup is done to a 4TB Seagate external hard drive, with 1.7 TB of free space.

The external drive is setup so that it never goes in power saving mode.

Backed up files are documents, pictures, movies which takes about 500MB.

Any idea why this happens?

Thanks.

Norton: Can't open "Check Security History" option

Hi

My Brother has the same computer as me and also has Norton. He has a older version of Norton 360 It's the one where the colour scheme is black instead of white.

We could opened it before and it was fine but now for some reason we can't open it. I told him to downoad MBAM Free on to the computer to check for viruses just to be on the safe side and everything came up clean. And before we downloaded the MBAM we were able to open the check security history option (We downloaded from the offical site so I don't think this is anything to do with it)

He also did a full system scan on the 8/05/2014 and it only turned up tracking cookies.

The computer was acting strange it wasn't loading into Windows 8.0 properly.

If you have any suggestions on what to do here please post!

"Access Vault": first time access error message

$

Hi,

I just installed my Norton 360  for the first time and included the Norton toolbar.  I bought the product primarily to help me with the myriad usernames and passwords that become unweildy with dozens of accounts, logins and the rest.  I also became a victim of browser smam hijack/attacks (eg gos.drivedo, dozens of adware-popusp and floats, etc) that make the use of internet a nighmare.

I understood that Norton 360 is able to store and remember passwords and allocate them to relevant logins so one of the first tings I did was to try the Vault.  However, when I click on "Access Vault" on the Norton toolbar, it gives me a pop-up with "Sign-in or create account" with a window to input my email and "Next" button and no matter what i type in the "email address" window when I click on "Next" button, after a message "looking for account..." message-line, I get a red error message that "a network error is preventing creation of the Norton Account.  Please check your computer Internet connectivity and try again." - despite the fact that my internent connection is perfect.  Please asvise.

Also, I cannot figure out how to use Norton 360 to block browser attacks - mainly what i get is pop=ups of gos.drivedo and annoying floating adwares.  I expected Norton to do it automatically but no.  I noticed that in one or two times, there was a message from Norton that it blocked "Fak Flash update" but the annoying popup still opened (though without the content  - the pop-up page was blank - This page cant be shown or someting) but the attacks continued and there was no help with the floating adware.

Norton Security Suite, scan (1 file now), scans multiple files, and reports files skipped, why?

Norton Security Suite, scan (1 file now), scans multiple files, and reports files skipped, why?  (5/11/2014).

Scan Now = Quick Scan, right?

Scanning 1 file, the results show 3 files scanned, and later 2 files scanned.  Subsequent scans report 2 files scanned.

The Export of 1 file scanning results shows 2 files skipped, and later 1 file skipped.  Subsequent scans report 1 file skipped.

Why is a scan now later reported as a quick scan?

Why when scanning 1 file, does it report any more than 1 file being scanned?

Why when scanning 1 file, does it skip a file, (or files); and on subsequent scans, change the scan files count, but never 1.

How can I be assured what file(s) were scanned, although it does show me the target file?

How can I found out the files that were initially skipped (2); and on subsequent scans (1)?

Details and evidence: XP pro SP3, Norton Security Suite (N360.exe, V 12.11.2.6, Build TIme Thu Feb 20 23:08:11 2014) I have downloaded a pdf file, and to be safe, I locate the downloaded file and do a right-mouse scan now.  (On 1 file)

The scan now results report that 3 files were scanned.  Really?  So I scan now again, and it reports (and subsequently on retries) that 2 files were scanned.  So I export results and find that 1 file was skipped?  WTH, What the heck?

It shows me the scan target (thank you)

It shows me that security risks detected: 0 (thank you)

Says Skipped Files: 1???  WTH (What The Heck) What file was skipped?

This creates a confidence breach in the product.  Which of my 1 file(s) was scanned, which of my 1 file(s) were skipped?

Question: From the evidence, what file was skipped?

Question: Why when scanning one file, does it first scan 3 files; and on subsequent scans, scan 2 files?

Thank you, DW.

(PS: I have scanned the forums, and found that during repeat scans, files previously scanned are skipped.  This was applicable to quick scan and related to the files having been scanned with the most recent update of the scanner files.  However, this is not a quick scan, it is not a full scan, and it should be a complete scan of 1 downloaded file.)

I reinstalled my Norton 360 yesterday. I seem to be missing both the EENGINE folder and EPersist.dat file in my Symantec Shared folder (Common files)

Not sure if I need this file or if it will eventually appear on my system. Just my parents' laptop has these files and they have Norton 360 V.21.2.0.38 just like me.
